Advantages of CNC Glass Machining
Computer-controlled machining follows programmed tool paths to remove glass in controlled areas and produce repeatable dimensions, internal features and complex external profiles.
Exceptional Precision
Dimensional tolerances are available from ±0.508 mm [±0.020 in] down to ±0.127 mm [±0.005 in], depending on the part geometry and finished requirement.
Unmatched Repeatability
The same programmed geometry can be reproduced from small prototype runs through large-volume production.
Diverse Capabilities
CNC machining supports shapes, drilled holes, notches, slots, grooves, steps and finished internal dimensions in a wide range of technical and optical glass materials.
CNC Glass Features & Geometries
CNC machining is used where a finished glass component requires more than a simple external cut.
-
01
Through & Blind Holes
drilled features can pass completely through the glass or terminate at a controlled internal depth.
-
02
Step, Tapered & Countersink Holes
multi-level or angled hole geometries can be machined for assembly, fastening and interface requirements.
-
03
Slots & Grooves
controlled internal and external channels can be machined into the finished component.
-
04
Notches & Steps
edge notches and stepped profiles can be incorporated directly into the CNC geometry.
-
05
Custom Shapes & Profiles
irregular external geometries and combined machined features can be produced from the customer drawing.
Our Glass CNC Machining Services
We provide CNC fabrication for glass parts requiring combined external geometry, internal features and finished edge details.
- CNC Profile Machining — shapes, notches, slots, grooves, steps and other custom external or internal geometries.
- CNC Hole Machining — through holes, blind holes, step holes, tapered holes and countersink holes.
- Countersink & Inside Dimension Seaming — both sides of slots, holes and grooves can be tapered or finished to improve edge strength and cosmetic appearance.
CNC Glass Production Range

Dimensional Tolerance
Production tolerances range from ±0.508 mm [±0.020 in] to ±0.127 mm [±0.005 in].
Part Size
Minimum part size: 50.8 × 50.8 mm [2 × 2 in]
Maximum part size: 2286 × 1524 mm [90 × 60 in]
Hole Diameter

Benefits Beyond the Basics
- Prototype to Production — CNC glass processing supports small prototype runs as well as large-volume production using repeatable programmed geometries.
- Wide Glass Material Range — machining is available for Borofloat®, filter glass, soda-lime glass, low-iron glass, D263, B270, Gorilla® Glass, teleprompter mirror, anti-reflective glass, non-glare glass and patterned glass.
CNC machining can therefore be used as the main fabrication step for both standard technical glass and more specialized coated, strengthened or optical substrates.
