Details that decide whether a lab or device part works as intended
Cover Slips Matched to the Objective
Most microscope objectives are corrected for a No. 1.5 cover slip, 0.16–0.19 mm, ideally 0.17 mm. A thicker or thinner slip adds spherical aberration and the image softens, so we sort cover glass to its thickness grade.
Thin Covers for Handheld Devices
Monitors and handheld meters use 0.55 to 2.0 mm aluminosilicate, chemically strengthened to over 650 MPa with a compression layer about 40 µm deep, keeping thin covers above 92% transmission.
Quartz for UV-C Windows
Thin borosilicate passes UV-A but blocks 254 nm UV-C at any thickness. Windows for UV-C lamps and UV detection paths are made from fused silica or quartz instead.
Clean Excitation Light
In fluorescence work, a shortpass filter such as one passing 340–500 nm removes the longer wavelengths from the excitation source, so they do not leak into the emission signal the camera reads.
Antimicrobial Values You Can Check
Silver-ion surfaces are specified by their R value under ISO 22196. R 2 means 99% fewer bacteria than an untreated sample after 24 hours, R 3 means 99.9%. We quote the value tested, not a general claim.
Samples for Your Validation
Device makers validate glass in their own assemblies. We supply samples in 7–15 working days, made on the production route, so test results carry over to the production parts.
Project Example
Disposable cell counting chamber slides in ultra-clear glass, with 4, 6 or 8 chambers per slide at a depth of 10, 15 or 20 µm. The cover glass carries a coating that draws the sample in by capillary action, prevents bubbles and keeps cells from sticking, for counting by eye under brightfield or in automated counters.
Send the drawing or the slide and cover slip spec: glass type, thickness grade, chamber depth, wavelength or coating. We confirm the material and the measurement method for each value before quoting.
Samples for Validation
Samples are made on the production route and shipped with the measured values, so your validation and assay testing are done on parts that match what production will deliver.
Repeatable Production
Once samples pass your testing, the material, process and measured values are fixed. Production lots are made and checked to the same values, and changes are agreed with you first.
Cutting & Dicing
Device covers cut to outline; slips and small parts diced.
Edges & Strengthening
Edges ground smooth, then chemically strengthened where needed.
Ultrasonic Cleaning
Multi-stage cleaning before any coating or printing.
Coating & Printing
AR, oleophobic or antimicrobial layers, then markings.
Inspection & Packing
Appearance checked; dimensions sampled; parts packed clean.
